About Twsta
Born from Ethiopian landscapes and built around authentic, safe, sustainable travel with strong local roots and global care.
A founder’s mountain-born journey from shepherding in the Simien highlands to building memory-rich Ethiopian travel.
The story of Twsta Tours begins high in the rugged beauty of the Simien Mountains National Park, in a small place called Mecheka where our co-founder, widely known in the tourism community as Ras Agez, was raised.
His childhood was shaped by the mountains. As a young shepherd, he spent his days tending cattle, goats, and sheep across steep cliffs and vast highlands. Life was not easy; he faced the raw forces of nature daily, from harsh cold winds to dangerous terrain and encounters with wildlife. Yet these challenges did not break him; they built him.
Education was never given; it was earned with determination. Every day, he walked more than five hours just to attend school. Through rain, cold, and exhaustion, he kept going, consistently ranking among the top students in his class.
Against all odds, his journey led him to Addis Ababa University, where he studied Economics, followed by a Master’s degree in Natural Resource Economics. He further specialized in Tour Operation Supervision at Lion Ethiopia Tourism College, graduating again among the top of his class.
Today, his story lives through every journey we create. That deep-rooted experience, authenticity, and respect for nature and culture make Twsta Tours not just a travel company, but a gateway to truly experiencing Ethiopia.
