Departure from Addis Ababa Our adventure begins early in the morning as we depart from Ghion Hotel in Addis Ababa. We’ll enjoy a scenic drive westward to the town of Ambo, passing lush highlands and small towns along the way. You’ll get a glimpse of Ethiopia’s beautiful countryside life before reaching the spectacular Wenchi Crater Lake.
Arrival at Wenchi – Hike to the Lake Upon arrival, we begin a gentle but rewarding hike down the crater rim toward the lake. The trail offers stunning viewpoints of the emerald green lake, lush forests, and volcanic hills. Along the way, we’ll meet local communities and enjoy a quiet moment in nature.
Horse Riding & Canoe Ride At the lakeshore, you can choose to ride horses for fun or simply to make the return easier later. Then, get ready for a serene canoe ride across Wenchi Lake—a peaceful journey through still waters surrounded by crater walls. We'll visit the historic island monastery and enjoy breathtaking views.
Hot Springs, Mud Bath & Relaxation After the boat ride, refresh yourself with a natural hot spring shower and enjoy a rejuvenating mud bath—a unique wellness experience offered by the local environment. Relax, laugh, and connect with nature while soaking in the therapeutic atmosphere.
Swim, Bridge Fun & Group Lunch We'll take time to swim in the lake (for those who enjoy wild swimming) and relax by the small wooden bridge, a perfect spot to enjoy the scenery and share joyful moments with friends. A fresh local lunch will be served, either picnic-style or at a nearby community lodge.
Hike Back & Return to Addis After a fulfilling day, we’ll hike back up or ride horses to the rim. Our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to Addis Ababa, arriving in the early evening with hearts full of laughter, memories, and connection to nature.
